FMCSA Proposes More Than 220 Percent UCR Fee Increase

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) on September 3rd published in the Federal Register a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that would establish a new fee structure for the Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Agreement beginning January 1, 2010.  Based on recommendations from the UCR Board of Directors, statutory requirements regarding the amounts each participating state shall receive, compliance calculations, and bracket slippage adjustments, FMCSA proposes to increase UCR fees by 222.432%.

Establishing UCR fees occurs under an expedited rulemaking schedule providing for a 15 day comment period.  Consequently, comments are due by September 18, 2009.  AMSA members should contact Paul Oakley ay poakley@moving.org with comments.
